The Benefits of Prototyping

You may be thinking of having your product idea manufactured, but first you should think about starting with a prototype first. Read on to see why.

What is a prototype and why is prototyping important?

A prototype is a manufactured original sample model that’s used to test, learn, and replicate from. Prototyping is necessary because it provides a real life test of your design and its functions and allows the manufacturer to get familiar with the product before potential full production.

While the cost of a one off unit for prototyping can be seen as a potential downside, we think it’s an essential part of getting a product to market. If you go all in without first testing a prototype you could end up with a whole batch of units with errors, and that’s going to cost you a lot more.
