State-of-the-art automated electrostatic Powder Coating in Liverpool
SMS strive to provide our customers with high-quality finishes in the very quickest of lead times
We supply products finished in a full range of BS and RAL colours using epoxy polyester and full polyester powder. Epoxy polyester for the internal environment and full polyester for external environment. Full/semi-gloss, matt, textures, metallic, heat resistant and hammer finishes, are often ex-stock and readily available.
If we do not stock a special or bespoke colour/finish, we can usually obtain it from our approved suppliers. Most paint specifications are achievable, as well as accurate colour matching from a customer sample.
Powder coating is an extremely durable and scratch resistant surface coating. It is pliable but hard enough to withstand impact without scratching and is the most popular process for finishing metalwork. Our powder is applied using automation using programmable robotic reciprocators that coat the material with the required amount of micron thickness. This quick and easy electrostatic application gives a high-quality finish. Then the final process is to stove the product between 200ºC and 240ºC to guarantee maximum curing.
Zinc-rich primer is considered to be one of the most effective anti-corrosive paint systems today. A proven track record that guarantees this application will extend the lifespan of the product. Any specific colour/finish can be applied over the primer, with a top coat finish. The thickness of zinc primer can be applied between 10 and 120 microns thickness. The greater zinc content results in longer corrosion resistance for the finished component. Prior to Powder Coating, all materials will undergo a pre-treatment process to make the product have a longer life and lower maintenance expectancy.
SMS provide the highest quality in surface finishing. Much improved lead times, contribute to supplying our clients total customer satisfaction.
Investment in the Powder Coating process has been paramount and helped SMS to keep costs extremely competitive, supplying our customer with a quality finish, at an affordable price.
Our latest acquisition is a GEMA Self-cleaning booth, complete with opti-centre to maximise utilisation of powder. This aides the business to achieve high levels of recycling of powder and also reduces the company’s carbon footprint. The fully programmable reciprocators are assisted by the sensors prior to the booth to inform them what size and length of the parts entering the area. The powder is applied using programs stored in its memory, this coats the metal to the desired amount of microns of powder set. The track can accommodate components up to the sizes of 3.0M long, 1.3M deep and 0.9M wide.
